The new model Aqara Hub M2 European version is compatible in the Aqara Home, Apple Homekit and Google Home ecosystems.
The Aqara M2 hub is the central piece of the smart ecosystem and incorporates the most advanced Aqara technology, connects to the home WiFi network or wired ethernet for better stability in the cloud and communicates with a variety of sensors via ZigBee 3.0 technology. In addition, thanks to the IR 360° function, Aqara M2 can control and automate the air conditioner, TV or any other household appliance through infrared, turning them into smart devices that support automation with other sensors in the ecosystem.
Compared to the previous model, the Aqara M2 supports up to 128 Zigbee devices including the previous sensor models. Once installed either via WiFi or wired connection, it becomes the main piece of an ecosystem with unlimited automation possibilities. It can be used in parallel with the basic functions such as security alarm, wake-up alarm and doorbell thanks to the built-in loudspeaker.
The IR interface supports over 8000 TV models, over 240 air conditioner brands and the IR learning function allows copying of various remote controls. In IR button/control learning mode, the Aqara hub M2 supports a maximum of 64 copied buttons.
Aqara M2 facilitates the integration of sensors and smart devices from the Aqara Home ecosystem into other smart ecosystems. These can later be controlled with dedicated voice assistants.
*If both connection possibilities are available, the recommendation is that it be done through the LAN cable through the ethernet port.
Installation recommendation: Place the HUB between 2 and 6 meters away from the router (to connect to WiFi). Avoid metal barriers between the router and the hub. Power up the console, click on + in the Aqara Home application, then select it from the list and follow the steps.
*The recommended maximum distance between the HUB and the sensors is 20 meters if there are 2 walls in the way. To extend the area between the hub and the farthest sensor, you can place an Aqara device with signal extension such as the 1-channel relay or the applied socket.
*The M2 hub will not be displayed in Google Home after synchronizing the accounts, but it will allow the passage of some devices so that they can be controlled with Google Assistant or from the Google Home application (check the filters on the dedicated page to see the compatible devices)
*Aqara HUB M2 EU is not compatible with Amazon Alexa (coming in the near future);
*This device is a version strictly dedicated to use in Europe arrived on an official channel (not to be confused with the version for Asia or the USA).
*Aqara M2 cannot be integrated with the Xiaomi ecosystem through the MI Home EU application.
